BRIDGE TO LIGHT
a poem by Jeff Cummings
Upon the darkness shines the light.
Droplets fall from heaven’s height.
Though storm winds rage, still peace abides.
A spectrum of colors makes the divide.
A bridge of promise that dark won’t prevail.
Transition to light, God’s pledge never fails.
Born in shadow, now light in the Lord.
Christ, the Righteous, our great reward.
Vibrant colors, seven sacred stripes.
Perfected translation from the soul’s death to life.
The rainbow shines, a covenant of peace.
Divine, secured love, that never will cease.
A bow in the storm, hope in the dark.
God’s promise endures – His radiant arc.
“And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.”
~ Genesis 1:4
“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
~ John 1:5
“The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
~ Genesis 9:16
“…giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
~ Colossians 1:12-14
FEATURED INSPIRATIONAL PHOTO
What struck me about this scene is how the rainbow is the dividing line between light and shadow. Between darkness and light, between death and life, is the promise of God. A vibrant bridge of hope and assurance in the love of Jesus. It was taken just outside of Electric City, WA over Banks Lake at Osborn Bay.
