BE READY.

The Day of the Lord is Coming!

Witnessing the lunar eclipse (Blood Moon) on March 13th felt especially meaningful. Until that night, heavy cloud cover had completely obscured the stars. But just in time, the skies cleared, and even the strong winds settled, allowing for a stable shot of this breathtaking celestial event—a powerful reminder of the Creator’s presence in the world. This experience has led me to reflect on Biblical prophecy.

The Prophet Joel declared:

“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh(this was fulfilled with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Peter validates the fulfillment in Acts 2)

“And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood and fire and pillars of smoke.

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.

“And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” ~ Joel 2:28a, 30-32

Wherever you find yourself in the interpretation of “the Day of the Lord”, we can agree with the Biblical prophecy that the Day is coming.

It will be a day of great joy for those who are in Christ Jesus and an unparalleled day of terror for those who have deliberately rejected Jesus and His deity as the Son of God, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Lunar Eclipse

Lunar Eclipse nearing totality.

The moon may appear red, something like the lunar eclipse, in preparation for the Day of the Lord. It may be caused by a future eclipse, by atmospheric conditions of fire and smoke, or something else. While we can’t be certain of the cause, we know from prophecy that there will be signs in the heavens.

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” ~ Luke 21:25-28

In the world of photography, I am noticing an increasing interest and fascination with the night sky. During last year’s total solar eclipse, news outlets across North America reported on the event, openly acknowledging the profound, supernatural connection people felt as they witnessed it. And it’s no surprise

“THE HEAVENS declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork.

Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge. There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard. Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world.” ~ Psalm 19:1-4

The language of the heavens transcends all of earth’s spoken languages, penetrating the consciousness of every soul regardless of race, tribe, or people. There is no excuse for not acknowledging the Creator God as supreme and eternal (Romans 1:20-21).

In conjunction with heavenly declarations of God’s presence, God promised to pour out His Spirit on all flesh. And He did! With Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, the Heavenly Father sent His Holy Spirit to inhabit those who give themselves to Jesus Christ. Peter affirmed the fulfillment of this promise in Acts 2 when he quotes the prophet Joel, followed by his imploring words:

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

If you have been adopted into God’s family through Jesus Christ—rescued from the power of darkness and brought into His Kingdom—you have every reason to look forward to the Day of the Lord. Prophecy is unfolding before our very eyes. The events Jesus describes in Luke 21 closely resemble what we see happening in our world today.

It may be time to “look up and lift our heads because our redemption draws near.”

Photographing this lunar eclipse reminds me of the great effort Jesus takes to make Himself known on the earth. Like a moon that appears to be covered in blood, I’m grateful for the blood of Jesus that covers me, cleanses, and makes me righteous in Him. Because of His GREAT LOVE…

Witnessing an eclipse like this feels like a simulation and warm-up for what’s soon to come! It’s a timely admonition to be ready in your relationship with Jesus and the work assigned to you in His magnificent Kingdom.

Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse

“Blood Moon”

The lunar eclipse was nothing less than stunning. Through my 1120 mm lens, I could literally watch the movement of the earth’s shadow fall over the moon. As the shadow engulfed the moon, it began to glow red, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. It reminded me of Biblical prophecy and references to the moon turning like blood before the Day of the Lord. I am comforted in the assurance of Jesus’ mercy upon me. Viewing the Blood Moon prompts deep gratitude for my access to the Holiest (Heavenly Father) by the blood of Jesus. A day of unspeakable joy is coming when our union with Jesus is consummated in our heavenly home! Look up!
