LIVING WATER
September Mount Rainier Trip
Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters… Incline your ear, and come to Me.
Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—The sure mercies of David” ~ Isaiah 55:1, 3
I was winded. Muscles were strained. Sweat stung my eyes. But it was so worth it to walk into this stunning scene, one of several destinations on the day’s hiking agenda. Stafford Falls in Mount Rainier National Park was refreshing to the soul.
I lifted off my pack full of camera gear and the cool breeze from the falls brought instant relief from the unseasonable warm day (and the exertion from the big climb – well, and maybe being a bit out of shape 😊. I set up the tripod and attached the filter to my camera lens and began shooting.
Upon arrival at Silver Falls on the Ohanapecosh River I was again awed by the scene before me! This waterfall roared as it tumbled over the rocks making its way down the mountain. Its endless flow originating from the Ohanapecosh Glacier on the southeast side of Mount Rainier.
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me [Jesus] and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” ~ John 7:37-38
Can you imagine a more incredible lunch background than this peaceful little fall along Chinook Creek? And my soul sang with its rushing sound…
“For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’” Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation.” ~ Isaiah 12:2-3
Another little waterfall along Chinook Creek.
“And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.” ~ Revelation 21:6-7
Deer Creek Falls drops about 60 feet into a scenic gorge.
“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” ~ John 4:13
Bridge crossing the Ohanapecosh River.
Cascading water along the Chinook Creek.
Further downstream Chinook Creek forms this azure-colored pool of crystal-clear water.
“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” ~ Revelation 22:1-2
“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean…” ~ Ezekiel 36:25
Whether large or small, the cascading mountain waterfalls spoke to me of life – abundant LIFE!
As the second day grew old, I ventured up to Tipsoo Lake at Chinook Pass for a clearer view of Mount Rainier. The dazzling view of the sun setting behind Mount Rainer, Tipsoo Lake at its base, was framed by the last wildflowers of the season – a grand finale to my two days hiking in Mount Rainier National Park.
I lifted my camera to the scene in an act of worship to Jesus! When the setting sun reflected upon the surface of Tipsoo Lake, a sun star formed highlighting the message for my trip.
“They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” ~ Revelation 7:16-17
