OVERFLOWING HOPE
Part 1 of 3
There is hope!
If you’re not feelin’ it, you’re not alone. I’m all too familiar with that pit of despair – the dank odor of rotting dreams, the dark mantel of loneliness, the maddening drip, drip, drip of unending sorrow, the unseen iron ceiling of confinement, and each goading stone painfully reminding me that I’m still alive in this hell hole.
There is HOPE!
A voice topside and these words echo down through the black chamber as if to taunt me. How annoying! “Easy for them to say!” Right? “After all, they’re topside in the sunshine.”
There is HOPE!
The phrase can sound cliché spoken by well-meaning people. So common in fact, that it is often relegated to religious rhetoric or a churchy colloquialism. And no blame to those who speak the encouraging phrase. They mean to help you feel better, lift your chin, spark a fire. But when you’re in that dark place… “whatever…”
There is HOPE!
ABOUNDING HOPE, empowered by the Spirit of Jesus. A divine hope – present and overflowing. Abundant in darkness and sunshine.
True HOPE anticipating, with desire, the more of God – for yourself and others!
Your life – past, present, and future: no longer defined by your experiential earthly perspective. No more cynical, bitter outlook. Instead, a vision expanding to include the supernatural dynamic of God’s promise.
Hope carries a purposeful perspective. A purpose that transforms and empowers!
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
This scripture gives us the way to hope – abundant, overflowing HOPE.
HOPE is the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to connect our experiences to His promises.
It begins with the God of HOPE – His name, the author, the source. It is He in whom we must believe and trust. Listen. Be still. Listen. He has something to say. Listen. Come close. Trust Him. Be vulnerable. Let your guard down so He can fully embrace you. Don’t resist. Listen. Did I mention, listen?
When you begin to trust, you will know it. You will begin to fill with inexplicable joy and peace. It’s from Him, through Him, and in you.
And then? Well, then there is – HOPE! Wider, deeper, higher than what you can imagine. Reaching out of sight, extending beyond impossibilities. Allowing us to see God-things – dreams, possibilities, potential! HOPE that is powered by the Holy Spirit of Jesus who defies all earthly limitations. The God of HOPE Who dwells in you!
“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” ~ Romans 5:5
Without hope, our life experiences may seem detached from purpose – pointless, confusing, regrettable, and even at times depressing.
HOPE is the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to connect our experiences to His promises.
It’s the power of the Holy Spirit at work IN YOU to connect His promise to your experience. It comes by way of a trust-based relationship with God. This is the foundation of HOPE. HOPE is not a psychological endeavor, but a relational one. Start today with TRUST in the God of HOPE.

“Divine Hope”
This photo was taken of a foggy sunrise over Lake Roosevelt in Grand Coulee Dam, Washington. The experience was breathtaking! I arrived just before sunrise as the foggy shapes floated over the lake as if preparing for some great event. In a short time the sun rose over the distant hills and the the fog “caught fire” in its light with stunning colors and danced over the water in a breezy celebration that a new day dawned.
