PRAYER!
Do you believe [trust] Jesus?
I kneeled in prayer, for her burden was heavy.
A thorn in her side, making trouble a plenty.
Conflicted and troubled, and coming undone.
A man uncontrolled, with fire in his tongue.
I prayed for my wife of this human she faced.
In habit, I begged, “Help her, Father – in haste!”
In an instant, I knew that my prayer was not right.
What came out of my mouth was rooted in fright.
The Spirit inside me who helps me to pray,
Advised of God’s promise, “yes” never “nay”.
The words that came next changed my perspective and tone.
“Help the man, Abba Father. Make yourself known.”
For my wife is the Lord’s. She is princess to the King.
He’s her HELPER and PROTECTOR in life’s everything.
He helps in times of trouble. He strengthens and provides.
The Holy Spirit comforts, gives her words, and makes her wise.
Why beg for something promised and ask for something hers?
Instead, to THANK Him for His vow! Within me something stirs.
A boldness and a courage. My mouth is filled with praise.
A weapon that’s unchallenged, leaving evil in a daze.
Fear for her is gone. My wife safely in His care!
The man who doesn’t know God is the one who needs the prayer.
He’s the one who needs God’s help to heal his painful state.
Finding Jesus in his prison of bitterness and hate.
The scenario is different now. Not a victim or self-pity.
No inconvenience or annoyance or vindictive witty.
Seated with Jesus in the throne room of grace.
Speaking Jesus’ words, His authority embraced.
And from the blast of Heavenly grace and praise that echoes loud,
The man encounters Jesus. Will he yet be proud?
My prayer can’t change the man because his will can make that choice.
But my prayer can embrace him with God’s presence. Clear his ears to hear God’s voice.
When you talk with Father, don’t beg Him for what is yours.
Instead, praise and thank Him! It opens different doors.
It helps you see what Jesus sees, to declare His words He prays.
It ousts all fear with love and all reactive ways.
I kneeled in prayer…
How might distrust and fear shape your prayers?
Trusting Heavenly Father empowers prayer that is synced with the will of God.
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” ~ 1 John 5:14-15

FEATURED INSPIRATIONAL PHOTO
I hiked to the Lake Lenore Caves in chilly January. The shallow caves are located in Central Washington’s channeled scabland Dry Falls region. Winter is a good time to hike to avoid rattlesnake encounters. I looked into the cave and was not impressed. But when I walked inside and looked out, my whole perspective changed. The crystal icicles hanging from the ceiling framed a stunning view of the lake below and the coulee walls beyond. Fear and distrust are like looking into the cave from the outside. But when trust in Father’s love takes you inside His throne of grace, you can look outward from His position, and the view changes completely.
